Can Changing your Diet Really Help You Heal From Trauma?

The importance of Gut Health in Post-Traumatic Recovery.

Even our modern day health experts have been slow to recognise the role that nutrition can play in mental health.

However, recent studies have begun to shift commonly-held beliefs.

For example, research has shown that nutrition can play a significant role in treating and significantly reducing anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress symptoms following major traumatic events.

Seeing as traumatic experiences have a direct negative effect on our gut health, nutrition is particularly important after a traumatic experiences because our bodies have greater nutritional needs as we embark on the journey to heal.

Trauma damages and disrupts the gut microbiome.

These trillions of bacteria in the intestines that we refer to as the microbiome are essential and integral part of our immune system.

Without them, or if there is an imbalance, your body will fail to produce and reduce the function of certain neurotransmitters, this is why many trauma survivors suffer from issues regarding their physical health problems after, and during the trauma.

In order to SAVE myself I had to learn and accept that

Trauma sufferers & survivors have notably different microbiomes than people who haven’t experienced trauma.

The microbiome will actually stay in that “trauma state” even when circumstances change. It does not bounce back to it's pre-trauma state (at least not without help).

Real food is medicine, all the other “stuff” we eat is poison.

The importance of eradicating stress, as well as its source – no matter WHO or WHAT causes it.

Emotional abuse and trauma lead to a blocked energy in the solar plexus chakra.

The Solar Chakra is located between the belly button and the bottom of the rib cage (THE GUT). This area houses our personal power, self-esteem, issues of powerlessness, control.Have you watched my Youtube Video about how to unblock chakras? Head over to my channel for more information.

Idioms such “gut-wrenching experience" or "a pit in my stomach" are not meaningless English sayings 😉
